This city was the “co-reigning” city throughout the era of the Byzantine Empire, second in population and prestige only to Constantinople. You will see Ano Poli, the Byzantine Walls, the Byzantine Baths (entrance), the Roman Rotunda / Saint George's Church (entrance), the Arch of Galerius, the White Tower and Aristotelous Square. Continue through the plain of Thessaly and past Mount Olympos — the highest mountain in Greece and home of the twelve gods — to Kalambaka. ### Day 02 — Meteora – Great Meteoron & Varlaam – Delphi 08:30hrs departure for Meteora sightseeing with entrance to two of the monasteries. Perched on huge granite rocks, the monasteries seem suspended between earth and sky. Each contains priceless historical and religious treasures and exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Lunch in Kalambaka, then on through the villages and towns of central Greece to Delphi. ### Day 03 — Delphi – Corinth Canal – Nafplio 09:00hrs guided tour of the Delphi archaeological site and Museum (entrance). Once believed to be the “navel” of the earth, Delphi is home to the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, where the Pythia delivered her prophecies. You will see the Castalian spring, the Treasury of the Athenians, the temple of Apollo, and the Museum with the bronze Charioteer. Continue to Nafplio via a short stop at the Corinth Canal. ### Day 04 — Nafplio – Epidaurus – Mycenae – Rhodes 08:00hrs departure to Epidaurus (entrance) and Mycenae (entrance), then Athens Airport for the domestic flight to Rhodes. Epidaurus and its 4th-century BC theatre, famous for astonishing acoustics. Then Mycenae — the Homeric city of the Atreides, “rich in gold” — with the Lion Gate, the Cyclopean walls and the royal tombs. Arrival in Rhodes and transfer to the hotel. ### Day 05 — Rhodes – Lindos – Old Town 09:00hrs, local licensed guide: panoramic tour, Hirsch statue, half-day south of the island with the Acropolis of Lindos (entrance). Ninety minutes along the east coast bring you to Lindos, a village declared a monument for preservation. Above the white houses and the blue of the Aegean rises the acropolis, sacred to Athena Lindia and a mighty fortress. Old Town walking tour: the Jewish Quarter, Ippokratous Square, the Street of the Knights and the Grand Master's Palace (entrance). ### Day 06 — Rhodes Old Town – Heraklion 09:30hrs half-day Old Town walking tour with the Archaeological Museum (entrance) and the fortifications of the Palace, then the domestic flight to Heraklion. Arrival in Heraklion, meet & greet and transfer to the hotel. ### Day 07 — Knossos – Heraklion 09:00hrs city tour of Heraklion and Knossos (entrance). Knossos, a 3,000-year-old palace of the Minoan era and the centre of economic and political life of its time — one of the largest preserved Minoan palatial centres, seat of the legendary king Minos and home to the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Return to Heraklion for the Archaeological Museum (entrance), the Venetian fortress at the harbour gate, and the car-free 25th August Street leading to Lion Square and the Morosini fountain. ### Day 08 — Heraklion – Santorini 07:05hrs transfer to the port for the “Power Jet” high-speed: Heraklion 08:20 → Santorini 10:10. Half-day island tour with the coach and guide: the traditional village of Pyrgos at the highest point of the island, a protected settlement since 1995 with the ruins of Kasteli castle, then the famous black beach created by the ancient volcanic eruption. ### Day 09 — Santorini island tour 10:30hrs cable car in Fira down to the old port, return by donkey path, then Fira on foot. Walk the white cobbled streets of Fira through Gold Street and the Venetian district to the edge of the caldera, discovering local workshops, art galleries and wine cellars. 17:00hrs departure to Oia — the most photographed place in Greece, best known for its sunsets, about 150 metres above the sea, reached by 250 traditional steps or on donkey-back. Dinner at a local restaurant in Oia. ### Day 10 — Santorini – Mykonos 08:00hrs transfer to the port for the “Super Cat Jet”: Santorini 09:40 → Mykonos 11:40. Half-day walking tour of Mykonos Old Town: whitewashed churches, the windmills and the narrow winding streets, Little Venice, local figures and history — with a stop at a well-known bakery. ### Day 11 — Mykonos – Athens Free time for leisure, then transfer to the airport for the flight to Athens. Arrival at Athens Airport, meet & greet and transfer to the hotel. ### Day 12 — Athens sightseeing 09:00hrs sightseeing tour of the capital with your guide. Constitution Square, the House of Parliament, the Evzones guarding the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, a short stop at the Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896, then Hadrian's Arch and the Acropolis (entrance): the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon. Continue to the New Acropolis Museum (entrance). ### Day 13 — Athens – departure 09:00hrs full-day Athens tour, then 18:00hrs transfer to the airport for TK1846 at 21:50hrs. The National Archaeological Museum (entrance) — founded in 1889 and one of the most important museums of ancient Greek art in the world, with more than 11,000 exhibits including the bronze Poseidon and the golden death mask of Agamemnon. Athens is the birthplace of Western civilization. Here, democracy, philosophy and theatre were first developed. Walking beneath the Acropolis, visitors stand in the same environment where Socrates and Plato shaped the intellectual world. The Parthenon remains one of the most important architectural achievements in human history, symbolizing harmony, balance and cultural excellence. ### Day 02 — Epidaurus – Nafplio Drive along the Saronic Gulf. Epidaurus was one of the most important healing centers of antiquity, dedicated to Asclepius. Pilgrims traveled here seeking cures through ritual and medicine. Its theatre is globally famous for its perfect acoustics. Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece, combines Venetian fortresses, Ottoman influences and neoclassical elegance, creating a refined historical atmosphere. ### Day 03 — Mycenae – Porto Heli Visit Mycenae, one of the greatest centers of Bronze Age civilization. The city is linked to Agamemnon and the Trojan War. Massive cyclopean walls and the Lion Gate reflect immense power and advanced engineering. Continue to Porto Heli for relaxation by the sea. ### Day 04 — Hydra & Spetses – Sparta Cruise to Hydra and Spetses. Hydra preserves authentic maritime tradition with no vehicles and strong naval history. Spetses played a crucial role in the Greek War of Independence. Transfer to Sparta, the legendary military city-state known for discipline, strength and strategic dominance in ancient Greece. ### Day 05 — Mystras – Monemvasia Explore Mystras, a major Byzantine center of culture and power. Continue to Monemvasia, a medieval fortress town hidden within a massive rock. Its strategic position made it one of the most important strongholds in the region for centuries. ### Day 06 — Mani Travel through Mani, a region defined by isolation and strong clan traditions. Stone towers dominate the landscape, built for defense and survival. Mani remains one of the most authentic and untouched areas in Greece. ### Day 07 — Kalamata – Olympia Stop in Kalamata before continuing to Olympia. Olympia is the birthplace of the Olympic Games and one of the most sacred sanctuaries of ancient Greece. The stadium, temples and training grounds reflect the importance of physical excellence and unity. ### Day 08 — Delphi – Athens Visit Delphi, once considered the center of the ancient world. With its strategic position at a crossroads of sea and land routes, Alexandroupolis connects Europe and Asia, East to West. This seaside city, whose trademark is its lighthouse, forms the centre of a fascinating region. Lunch stop, then on to Kavala. ### Day 02 — Lydia – Philippi – Amphipolis – Thessaloniki 08:30hrs departure for the village of Lydia — Eucharist beside the stream where Lydia of Thyatira was baptised, the first recorded baptism in Europe. Philippi — the first city in Europe visited by Paul, and the city where he and Silas were imprisoned. The church of Philippi was perhaps the most supportive of all to Paul. Lunch stop, then on to Thessaloniki via Amphipolis, whose museum holds the material remains of the ancient city from prehistoric times down to the Byzantine period. ### Day 03 — Thessaloniki – Veria – Kalambaka 08:30hrs city tour of Thessaloniki — St. Demetrius Church, the White Tower and the Arch of Galerius. Thessaloniki was the “co-reigning” city throughout the Byzantine era, second in population and prestige only to Constantinople. Continue to Veria — ancient Berea, where Paul preached after leaving Thessaloniki and where the Bema of the Apostle Paul stands today. Lunch stop, then on through the plain of Thessaly and past Mount Olympos to Kalambaka. ### Day 04 — Meteora – Athens 08:30hrs sightseeing at Meteora — “suspended in the air”, with a visit to two of the monasteries. An authentic forest of rocks of fantastic shapes cut out over the Peneus valley and the town of Kalambaka — a unique geological phenomenon. Perched on huge granite rocks, the monasteries seem suspended between earth and sky, each holding priceless historical and religious treasures. Lunch stop, then the drive to Athens. ### Day 05 — Corinth – Kechries – Athens 09:30hrs, after Mass, across the Corinth Canal to Corinth — forever remembered through Paul's letters to a lively church in the midst of paganism. Here Paul recruited two valuable assistants, Priscilla and Aquila. The group celebrates the Eucharist at the ancient site — open-air Mass — before continuing to Kechries, the port of Corinth and Paul's departure point for Ephesus (Acts 18). After lunch, return to Athens for a four-hour half-day city tour including the Acropolis: the Panathenaic Stadium (short stop), the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library and Constitution Square — then the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon. ### Day 06 — Athens – Santorini 04:30hrs breakfast boxes and transfer to Athens International for A3 352 (07:00 – 07:45hrs). 08:30hrs the group meets its coach and guide for a half-day tour: Pyrgos village and the Profitis Ilias monastery viewpoint, Fira town, and an orientation tour of Oia.
